The work that I am presenting at the Havana Biennial in May 2015 is the third version of the Jungle Sphere. This sculptural series begun in 2010 and originated from the reflections of the project D.E.V.A.H (the idea is to create new vegetal species in the world, the Cultivarts). The objective through these installations is to show the complexity of life, the necessary exchange of fluids and the energy of light for the development of an artificial jungle that is based on the technics of hydroponic culture.

The artworks Jungle Spheres, engage the scientific and conceptual objective of the laboratory DEV, towards a poetic and subjective dimension related to the viewer and his history. In addition, the installations refer to a painting of Wifrido Lam: "Jungle", where the living and the supernatural merge to create a new artistic and symbolic world (this artwork is considered to be the first Caribbean modern work). I intend to show through these various technological, aesthetic and symbolic strata, the interweaving of a sensible dimension.

Finally, my goal is to make visible through a contemporary work, the polysemy richness where technology and semiotics, art and science, the sacred and the profane are meaningful for Caribbean and Western cultures. » H.T.
